    3D Printing with Ms. Hafener! Work on your 3D printing skills and design your own real-life objects! We will use an online design program called Tinkercad to get creative and make a keychain, planter, and diorama over the course of the class. Students will have the opportunity to bring their ideas to life and learn more about computer-aided design!

    Instructor: This course is taught by Hamagrael’s very own librarian, Cailie Hafener!  Cailie Hafener is the librarian at Hamagrael Elementary. She has been a school librarian in NY since 2014 and loves to help students experience the library as a place for joyful learning, exploration, and creativity. She likes to integrate literacy, technology, and art in her lessons and loves to learn new things.

    Get ready for an exciting after school adventure in the art room with Hamagrael’s very own Ms. Canning! Every week, you’ll dive into a world of creativity and art. In this laid-back and inspiring class, you’ll get the chance to explore different art techniques, use colorful materials, and discover your creative potential in a relaxed, friendly group.     Instructor: This class is taught by Hamagrael’s very own 4th grade teacher Nicole Canning.  Ms. Canning loves to teach students and also loves to do arts and crafts during her free time.

    This course supports all athletes in their efforts to reach their potential as players and people. A focus on growth in basketball, self-confidence, leadership skills and cooperative work with others is emphasized in all programs. No basketball experience necessary, but preferred.


    Instructor: Born and raised in the Capital Region, Jaci Oskam is a product of the Bethlehem Central School system, where she played on the varsity basketball team for four years. In her spare time, Jaci initiated her coaching career by mentoring young basketball players at the local YMCA. After high school, Jaci accepted a full athletic scholarship to attend Division 1 Quinnipiac University in 2011. Following a three-year stint as a Division 3 coach at Washington College in Maryland, Jaci returned to her hometown to be closer to her family. She then established her own basketball training enterprise, Jaci O. Basketball. Jaci currently serves as an assistant coach at Albany Academy.

    Broadway Bound is an introduction to acting and theater where students will learn the basics of acting, singing, and dancing as they apply to musical theater. Each class will consist of warm-ups, technique exercises and games. The session will conclude with a short performance for parents, families, and friends!

    Seano will bring the circus to you! Join veteran Ringling Bros.Circus artist Seano and learn the skills of juggling, stilt-walking, magic, clowning, partner acrobatics, and more. We'll celebrate the athlete, artist, and oddball in each of us, as we explore this larger than life artform. A short demo will culminate our time together, and leave you cheering for more the whole way home.

    Instructor: Sean “Seano” Patrick Fagan graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a degree in Performing arts.  His early career adventures led to working with Ringling Bros Circus, Walt Disney Organization, Nickelodeon Television, Scholastic Magic School bus Live, and regional theatres up and down the East Coast. For the past twenty years he has made the Capital region my home and has been teaching theatre, circus, and Shakespeare in school programs, fairs, festivals, and special events. He lives in Troy, NY  and says “I'm a family clown with a 12 year old daughter who thinks I'm pretty cool but has no dreams of becoming a clown.  I told her too late. It's an inherited trait.”

    Get ready to jump, spin, and stomp to awesome live fiddle music—just like kids did in the olden days before TVs, phones, or even electricity! In this super fun afterschool adventure, you'll:
    -Learn cool dances from America and all around the world—Irish jigs, African rhythms, Scottish reels, Chinese folk steps, and more!
    -Try out squares, circles, and contra dances—easy and exciting dances that feel like a big party with your friends.
    - Hear and play fun music on real folk instruments—like fiddles, banjos, guitars, and even a gourd banjo!
    - Sing songs, tell stories, and find out where all this amazing music and dancing came from.

    Every week is a new chance to laugh, learn, and dance with your friends—just like kids have been doing for hundreds of years! Let’s keep the music and dancing going!

    Instructor: Paul Rosenberg has been leading dances throughout the northeast since 1986. In recent years he has been one of the busiest “callers” in North America, working over 200 dances a year. Paul has recorded two CDs, Peel the Banana and Dance the World Around — with his band “Peter, Paul & George” — and written companion instruction books which present a  sequence of dances from school residencies, family dances, and community celebrations. George Wilson is a multi-instrumentalist and singer, as a fiddler he has over 500 tunes for dancing and listening.     Karate is a traditional Japanese Martial Art that promotes peaceful ways to avoid conflict.  Students will learn their first form & self-defense skills, along with improving their self-control & focus.

    Instructor: This course is taught by Sonya Christopher, who holds a triple black belt in karate. She is a school social worker at Elsmere Elementary and a karate sensei at Deweys Martial Arts in Delmar.

    Students will be introduced to the Spanish language and the cultures of various Spanish-speaking countries, as well as the importance of learning a world language! This program will foster interest in those unfamiliar with Spanish, and prepare those who are already interested for Spanish class in middle school. Students will learn basic vocabulary through music, games, and crafts inspired by Spanish cultures.

    Instructor: This student-led program will be hosted by BCHS juniors and seniors in the Spanish Honor Society. These highly motivated and enthusiastic students are in their 6th-7th year of language learning, and want to share their love of languages. Planning will be overseen by BCHS Spanish teacher Evelyn Ledezma. The students are volunteers and the funds that the Hamagrael PTA are collecting will be a donation for our club.

    Instructor: Alex Desourdy is a Librarian at Bethlehem Public Library who has more than 20 years' experience in Libraries. He has taught a variety of programs at the library and previous Hamagrael Enrichment classes.

In this exciting afterschool program, 4th and 5th grade students will explore creative and challenging math problems from the Math Olympiad curriculum. Whether you're already a math lover or just curious to try something new, this class will help you build confidence and develop new strategies for tackling fun and tricky problems. Through teamwork, games, and hands-on activities, students will learn how to think like mathematicians—and have fun doing it!

    Instructor: This student-led program will be taught by members of the BCHS Math Honor Society, made up of high-achieving high school students who love math and want to inspire younger learners. These students are passionate problem-solvers who will guide participants step-by-step through engaging lessons and brain teasers. The program will be overseen by Jessica Hallock, a Hamagrael mom and BCHS math teacher. Proceeds will go toward supporting student academic enrichment opportunities

    Get outside, get moving, and learn to play Ultimate Frisbee—a fast-paced, team-based sport that’s all about running, throwing, catching, and good sportsmanship! Students will build their fitness, coordination, and teamwork skills while learning the rules and strategies of this exciting game. Each session will include warm-ups, skill-building drills, and plenty of time for scrimmages and play. All skill levels are welcome—whether you’ve played before or are brand new to the game! 

    Instructor: This program will be led by Morgan Talbot, a Hamagrael mom and Ultimate Frisbee enthusiast with years of experience playing and coaching. She currently is playing on the highest level of Club Ultimate in the Capital Region. Her love of the game and upbeat, supportive teaching style will make this a favorite part of your child’s week!
