    Ms. Owen’s Classroom

    Students will learn the basics of American Sign Language through fun, hands‑on activities. They’ll explore Deaf culture and practice everyday signs, greetings, simple conversations, and finger spelling—all in an engaging, supportive environment.

    Instructor: Our own Ms. Owens is now in her third year at Hamagrael. She has worked in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade and loves bringing ASL into the classroom. After studying ASL in college, she’s excited to share the language and its importance with students who want to learn more.

    Students will enjoy 6 weeks of Basketball instruction with college basketball players as their coaches! Kids will build fundamental basketball skills through fun, active drills and games. This 6‑week clinic introduces players to dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, and basic gameplay while helping them grow confidence, coordination, and teamwork. Designed for beginners and developing players, this program creates a positive, supportive environment where every child can learn, improve, and enjoy the game.

    Instructor:Michael Branche is the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Russell Sage College. Before taking over the program in 2024, he spent four years as the assistant coach, helping the team reach back‑to‑back Empire 8 semifinal appearances. During that time, he coached multiple standout athletes, including an All‑American and several major conference award winners.

    He also brings additional coaching experience from Russell Sage’s women’s tennis program, where he served as both assistant and head coach and helped develop award‑winning players. Coach Branche is excited to work with young athletes and brings a strong background in player development, teamwork, and skill building.

    Broadway Bound is an introduction to acting and theater where students will learn the basics of acting, singing, and dancing as they apply to musical theater. Each class will consist of warm-ups, technique exercises and games. The session will conclude with a short performance for parents, families, and friends!

    PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE A PERFORMANCE DURING THE LAST 15 MINUTES OF THE FINAL CLASS (WEDNESDAY 12/2 AT 4:05 PM).

    Instructor:Lindsay Packard-Dashew holds degrees in Musical and Educational Theater and has more than ten years’ experience working as an actress/singer/dancer in NYC. In addition to teaching acting, musical theatre, and voice classes at Broadway Bound Performing Arts Academy, she is the director/choreographer of the BCMS Musicals and choreographer for the BCHS shows.

    Aspiring writers will progress through a 6-week program that includes outlining, composition, and revision, culminating in author readings of their finished projects.

    Instructor:Alex Desourdy is a Librarian at Bethlehem Public Library who has more than 20 years' experience in libraries. He has taught a variety of programs at the library and previous Hamagrael Enrichment classes.

    All sessions take place in Mr. B’s Gym

    Come and play some of Hamagrael’s all-time favorite games and activities. Famous games such as Battleship, Angry Birds, 6 Towers of Power, Ga Ga Ball, Hungry Hungry Hippos, and Crazy Pins are all part of this heart pumping afternoon workout.

    Instructor: This course is taught by Hamagrael’s very own PE teacher, “Mr. B” Chris Berschwinger“!!

    This hands-on program introduces the joy of playing the piano keyboard in a fun, supportive group setting. Designed specifically for complete beginners in grades 4 & 5, students will build a solid musical foundation through note names, basic music reading and essential hand positions while mastering fun and simple songs. All keyboards are provided during class.

    Instructor: This course is taught by Hamagrael’s very own Music Maestra, Mrs. Courtney Giampaolo!!

    Attendance and dismissal will be in the Hamagrael Library; class will be outdoors, weather permitting.

    Sign your kids up for “Nature Fun & Games” with Outdoor/Environmental Educator Kat Fitzpatrick, and they will be treated to an afternoon of outdoor activity, including exploring the trails around the school property, playing wildlife-themed games, and simply enjoying all our natural world has to offer.

    Instructor: Kat Fitzpatrick has been an outdoor educator for 20 years, including at the Parks & Recreation departments of the Town of Bethlehem and Albany County. Her Nature Classes at the Elm Avenue Park’s Discovery Day Camp have garnered responses such as, “I love Nature!”, “Thank you for taking us out here (to the woods)!”, and “Do we really have to go back now?”

    Join the Bethlehem Elementary School Newspaper Club — The Eagle!

    Students will learn from Hamagrael parent Morgan Talbot how to brainstorm, plan, collaborate, take initiative, and refine their writing skills in this creative, high energy, and fun enrichment class. Students will feel a great sense of connection to their community and school spirit, by reporting on local and school news and events, and by also being a part of this cross-elementary-school enrichment club!

    Instructor: Hamagrael parent Morgan Talbot's love of writing and collaborative projects makes her a natural guide for young journalists. Morgan brings an upbeat, creative energy that helps kids express themselves with confidence. Her warm, supportive approach ensures Newspaper Club becomes a favorite part of the week!

    5 weeks of Volleyball instruction with college Volleyball players coaching kids! They will learn to pass, set, spike and serve! Capital District Youth Athletics Volleyball (formerly Little Spikers) is a fantastic introductory program tailored for budding young athletes. This clinic offers a fun and nurturing environment where kids can learn the basics of volleyball while developing essential physical and teamwork skills. Our experienced coaches focus on teaching fundamental volleyball techniques, including serving, passing, and basic ball-handling. It provides an excellent opportunity for them to explore the game, develop physical coordination, and begin to understand the importance of teamwork. Join us for a delightful and educational experience that introduces your child to the exciting world of volleyball, all while fostering a love for physical activity and sportsmanship.

    Instructor: Rosilyn Cummings is currently Russell Sage Women’s Volleyball Head Coach. She has extensive coaching experience having served as the assistant coach of the Icelandic Men's National Team in 2017. She also served as the head coach of the Stjarnan Men's Volleyball Club in Iceland for two seasons in 2016-2017, where she was named Coach of the Year. Additionally, she has served as the program director for the Volleyball Academy of America and is currently a lead coach for the Gold Medal Squared Volleyball Camp. Among her many other accomplishments, she was the director of the IREVA Professional Volleyball League.
